Call for Rapid Response articles on the Olympics

The social implications of the London 2012 Olympics have been discussed extensively in the media - for example, with respect to gender politics, the educational background of medal-winners, nationhood and nationalism, equality and inclusion in East London, the relationship between elite sporting spectacle and grassroots communities and the economic implications of hosting the Games. These and other issues connect to a range of different facets of sociological research and theory. Sociological Research Online would therefore welcome Rapid Response articles (up to 3000 words) that offer research - or theory - led discussion of the sociological implications of different facets of the Olympics. All submissions will be peer-reviewed in the usual way.

Please submit papers online at: http://www.epress.ac.uk/SRO/webforms/author.php, making it clear that your submission is a Rapid Response. The deadline for submissions is 31st December 2012.
