Julia Carter

Julia Carter is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Canterbury Christ Church University. Her research interests include marriage and relationships, families and personal life, and gender and sexuality. She is particularly interested in intimate relationships and the role these play in an ever-changing social context. Previous publications have focused on marriage and narratives of love, sexuality, commitment, LAT relationships, and more recently, weddings. Her wider interests include gender and popular culture and she has recently undertaken some research into the practices and experiences of weddings and the role of agency in understanding these processes (in collaboration with Simon Duncan).
