Laura Oso

Laura Oso, (University of A Coruña, Spain) is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Soci-ology of the University of A Coruña. She is the coordinator of ESOMI (The International Migration Sociology Team) at this University. Laura Oso was awarded a PhD in Sociology by the Université de Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne (2002) and by the Universidade da Coruña in 1997. Her research work has centered mainly on the study of gender and migration, and specifically the insertion of immigrant women on the labour market. One of her main research lines is the study of Sex Worker’s Migration to Spain, carrying out qualitative fieldwork. She also works on the gender, migration and development nexus. She has published extensively in all these areas, including articles in journals (e. g. Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies), and co-editing Special Issues (e. g. Identities, Global Studies in Culture and Power, Papers) and books (e. g. The International Handbook on Gender, Migration and Transnationalism: Global and Development Perspectives, Edward Elgar Publishing).
