Stefan Bernhard studied Sociology at the Universities of Bamberg and Galway (Ireland). He worked as an assistant to the chair of sociological theory in Bamberg and held a three-year scholarship in the doctoral program entitled “Markets and Social Systems in Europe.” In 2010, his dissertation won the Ph.D. prize given by the German Sociological Association. Since October 2008, he has been working at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), where he heads the Permanent Working Group on Qualitative Methods in Employment Research.
