Dr Lindsey works for the Third Sector Research Centre at the University of Southampton as the Principal Investigator for a longitudinal, mixed-methods project investigating individual attitudes towards volunteering, and the role of the state, in meeting social need, through 1981-2012. The project draws on individual writing from the Mass Observation Archive in dialogue with quantitative panel and cross-sectional data. Other recent projects include: Mass Observers views on The Big Society and the capacity of individuals and communities to respond to the Localism agenda; and the distribution and flow of charitable resources into and out of communities with contrasting socio-economic backgrounds.
