Nathan Manning

Nathan Manning is Lecturer in Sociology at the University of York. His PhD research explored the ways in which young adults understand and practice politics. This work has resulted in publications for the Journal of Youth Studies, Journal of Sociology and Sociological Research Online. More recently his interests have turned to adult political dissatisfaction, and the role emotions may play in political (dis)engagement with work featuring in The Sociological Review, Citizenship Studies and Sociology. He is currently editing a book which explores political (dis)engagement and the changing nature of the 'political'.

Kathy Edwards

Kathy Edwards is Senior Lecturer with the School of Global Studies, Social Science and Planning. Kathy researches young people and multiple aspects of participation (electoral, political, social, community), social inclusion and youth policy. Her most recent work concentrates on a rigorous analysis of social inclusion policy frameworks and their conceptual underpinnings as well as the emotional dimensions of young people’s political participation. Publications in this area have appeared in the Australian Journal of Social Issues, Journal of Youth Studies, and Youth Studies Australia.
