Lecturer in Public Policy and Management at Plymouth University. Academic work focuses on the integration of sustainable development into governance frameworks. There is an emphasis on understanding sustainable development in the context of a risk society and second/ reflexive modern interpretations of the concept. Attention is also paid to evolving fields of complexity theory and ecological modernisation. My work engages with issues such as the role of science in society, the nature of risk and the publics understanding of climate change. My work ties together the global and local areas of analysis from the United Nations and the European Union through to local government and local communities
