Having received his PhD from The University of Warwick in 2010, Thomas Thurnell-Read is Lecturer in Sociology at the Department of International Studies and Social Science at Coventry University. His work addresses masculinity within contemporary leisure and tourism. His research interests include the sociology of the body and the sociological study of alcohol and drinking cultures. He is currently undertaking ethnographic research on the Campaign for Real Ale in order to explore issues relating to drinking cultures, taste, consumption and identity.
