Alexandra Allan

Dr Alexandra Allan is a lecturer in Education Studies in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Exeter. To date Alexandra's publications have focused on issues of social class, gender, sexuality, academic achievement and qualitative methodology. Alexandra has a particular research interest in girlhood studies and the constitution of young femininities. She has recently completed two research projects which have explored how a group of privileged young women constitute their subjectivities within private, selective and single-sex schools. Undertaken with a specific ethnographic focus these projects have utilised a number of different visual methods, including: photographic narrative interviews, photographic memory interviews, the photographic diary method and collaborative film work.
