Sue Heath

Sue Heath is a professor of sociology at the University of Manchester, where she is also a co-director of the Morgan Centre for the Study of Relationships and Personal Life. Her main research interests relate to the domestic and housing transitions of young adults. Recent books include 'Researching Young People's Lives' (Sage, 2009, co-authored with Rachel Brooks, Elizabeth Cleaver and Eleanor Ireland) and 'Rethinking Widening Participation in Higher Education: The Role of Social Networks (Routledge, 2011, co-edited with Alison Fuller and Brenda Johnston). Current research projects focus on the impact of household and family-related factors on the remigration decisions of Polish migrants living in the UK, and on the role of family support in relation to the housing pathways of single young adults.

Derek McGhee

Derek McGhee is a professor of sociology and Deputy Head of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton. In addition to an interest in migration, he has research interests in community cohesion, counter terrorism and human rights. He is also involved in AHRC-funded research on levels of co-operation amongst faith communities on anti-poverty strategies. Recent publications include 'The End of Multiculturalism? Terrorism, Integration & Human Rights' (Open University Press 2008); and 'Security, Citizenship & Human Rights - Shared Values in Uncertain Times' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010).

Paulina Trevena

Paulina Trevena is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Population Change at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining CPC she worked as a doctoral fellow at the Centre of Migration Research in Warsaw, Poland. Her main research interests are in the social world of migrants: issues of identity, wellbeing, status, labour market positioning, social mobility and education. Her doctoral research focused on 'The Polish intelligentsia in London: a case study of young graduates working in the secondary sector'.
