Mary Holmes

Mary Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Flinders University in Australia. Currently she is Visiting Scholar in Women's Studies at the University of York in the UK. She has published on the sociology of emotions and on intimacy in a number of journals including the European Journal of Social Theory, Current Sociology, The Sociological Review and Sociology. She is author of The Representation of Feminists as Political Actors (VDM 2008), Gender and Everyday Life (Routledge 2009) and of What is Gender? (Sage 2007).

Silvana Greco

Silvana Greco, degree in Economics from Commercial University L. Bocconi of Milan, earned a Ph.D in Sociology from the University of Milan, thanks also to the collaboration with the Max-Planck-Institut für Gesellschaftsforschung in Köln (Germany) from where she received a scholarship. She is currently research fellow at the Department of Social and Political Studies of the University of Milan. She has been Adjunct Professor for Sociology at University Milano-Bicocca after having been Adjunct Professor for Sociology at the University of Milan for four years and having taught several seminars for the Master in equal opportunities and gender studies of the University of Milan. She has participated and co-ordinated many sociological researches. In addition, she has recently won a two-years research and training project on 'Second Generation of Migrants' for the University of Milan, co-financed by a European programme, in which 6 other European countries will participate as partners. She has been partner in other 13 European projects, also co-financed by the EU programmes since 1995, most of them co-ordinated by the University of Glasgow. She is currently member of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS) and the European Sociological Association (ESA) and member of the Research Network of Sociology of Emotions. Her current research areas focus on: labour market and work organisation, emotions and friendship, migration and second generation of migrants, social exclusion and poverty.
