David Beer and Roger Burrows

David Beer

David Beer is now Senior Lecturer and Head of Programme for Communication at York St John University. At the time of writing this article he was working as a Research Fellow in the Social Informatics Research Unit (SIRU) in the Department of Sociology at the University of York, UK. He is the author of a number of articles and chapters on the sociology of cultural digitization, especially in relation to music. He is also the co-author (with Nick Gane) of a forthcoming book on New Media concepts.

Roger Burrows

Professor Roger Burrows is the Co-Director of the Social Informatics Research Unit (SIRU) in the Department of Sociology at the University of York, UK. Between 2005-2007 he was also the coordinator of the ESRC e-Society programme. He is the author of various articles, chapters, books and reports on: social informatics; urban sociology; and the sociology of health and illness.
