MILDRED BLAXTER MA, FPH. - a member of the staff of the MRC Medical Sociology Unit, Aberdeen, 1972-82, where the research referred to in these papers was done; subsequently at the Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia, 1982-2002. Currently Honorary Professor in the Department of Social Medicine, University of Bristol. Editor of Sociology of Health and Illness (1987-94), and Senior Editor Sociology of Social Science and Medicine (1994-2006) Publications have included the topics of lay perceptions of health, inequalities in health, narratives of health, disability and chronic illness, lifestyles, social capital theory, and the methodology of qualitative research.
