Patricia Leavy

Patricia Leavy is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Director of Gender Studies at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology at Boston College in 2002 and her BA. from Boston University in 1997. She has published articles in the fields of popular culture, research methods, feminism, social theory, and collective memory and is Co-Editor of Approaches to Qualitative Research: A Reader on Theory and Practice (Oxford University Press, 2004). She is co-author of The Practice of Qualitative Research and A Feminist Research Primer (both forthcoming SAGE publications). She is currently completing a book-length manuscript tentatively titled Iconic Events: Titanic and Other Events as Case Studies in Collective Memory.
